Matthieu Simard

Writer

Matthieu Simard loves writing novels, but hates writing his own biography. In a bio, he usually just lists his novels, published by Éditions Stanké (Échecs amoureux et autres niaiseries, Ça sent la coupe, Douce moitié and Llouis qui tombe tout seul), and feels bad saying that they’ve all been impressively successful.

Occasionally, he mentions that he was born in Montreal in 1974, and that his favorite themes are relationships, loneliness and mental health.

He also talks about the screenwriting projects he’s undertaken in recent years, which are still in progress, including the script for a feature film inspired by Ça sent la coupe.

He usually stops there, not knowing what else to say. Fortunately, for some time now, he has also been able to highlight the publication of the Pavel children’s series, published by éditions de la Courte échelle, whose first episode, Plus vivant que toutes les pornstars réunies, was a finalist at the 2009 Governor General’s Awards. He was delighted.
