Marie-Pier Dupuis is a Montreal-based editor, director and screenwriter. Her guilty pleasures? Garou, Joe Dassin, reality TV and poutine with cheese that won’t melt.
She is best known for her work on Sophie Dupuis’ SOLO (*Best Canadian Film at TIFF), whose editing earned her a nomination at the CCE Awards, and from which she ultimately walked away with the award for Best Editing in Documentary Short Form, for the film Après-coups (by Romane Garant Chartrand).
In 2019, she takes part in the relaunch of Cours écrire ton court, where her screenplay Carton Rouge wins the SARTEC award for best French-language project.
The year 2022 marked her official transition to directing, when she wrote and directed the short film L’été des chaleurs. This first film made a name for itself on the international circuit, earning a place at several world-renowned festivals (winner of the *ARTE award at the Brussels Shorts Film Festival, finalist at the Canadian Screen Awards, Tampere Film Festival, Bogoshorts). The project also won the heart of Barry Jenkins, who programmed it as one of 5 short films in the Telluride Film Festival’s coveted selection.
A lover of writing in all its forms, Marie-Pier dreams of one day working on a musical (ideally with Garou in it, because you know).
